AGORA Sustainable Tourism Successfully Concluded in Skiathos

The AGORA Sustainable Tourism event was successfully completed today in Skiathos, a multi-day initiative that highlighted the island as a key meeting point for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices in sustainable development.

Over the course of four days, representatives of institutions, tourism professionals, and members of the local community participated in thematic sessions, presentations, and networking activities, placing strong emphasis on the sustainable management of natural resources and the strengthening of the local economy.

The program effectively combined theory with hands-on experience, offering participants the opportunity to explore Skiathos through visits to sites of cultural and environmental significance, such as the Kastro, the Monastery of Evangelistria, the Koukounaries wetland, and the National Marine Park. At the same time, gastronomy-focused activities and visits to local businesses were also carried out.

Particular emphasis was placed on collaboration with the local community, with the participation of local organizations and associations that presented initiatives with social and environmental impact. This engagement further strengthened the dialogue between visitors and residents, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in sustainable tourism development.

The AGORA concluded with the formulation of key findings and proposals, reaffirming Skiathos’ role as a destination that actively invests in a more sustainable and responsible tourism model.
